Getting started
Home
Home is the screen that answers "what do I have on?" and "where was I?". It brings together events and due cards from across the workspace, your recent pages, and your latest notebooks and designs. To create, use New at the top of the sidebar (on a phone, the + button).
Open Home
Click Home near the top of the sidebar, or click the workspace name at the start of the breadcrumbs in the top bar. On a phone, tap Home in the bottom tab bar or the Tylode symbol in the header. Home is also the first screen you see when you sign in or open the installed app.
On a phone, the Search or ask Tylor field is at the top of Home. The bell (Activity) and your account are in Home's header.
At the top you'll see a greeting with your name, today's date and the name of the current workspace. Everything on Home refers to that workspace, plus your personal calendar.
Getting started
While you're new, Home shows a Getting started checklist with the three things that help most to get the best out of Tylode. Each step has a button that takes you straight there:
| Step | Button | Done when |
|---|---|---|
| Write your first page | Create page | You create a page in this workspace. |
| Add something to your calendar | Open the calendar | You create an event in any calendar. |
| Invite someone | Invite | You send an invitation to a workspace. |
Steps tick themselves off as you do each thing; you don't mark them by hand. Pending steps come first; completed ones move to the end and shrink to a single crossed-out line with a ✓. The counter and the bar above the steps show your progress (for example, "1 of 3"). Once two are done, the list shrinks to a single line with the step you're missing and its button. What the welcome creates (the dashboard and the sample events) doesn't count: the steps are about what you create yourself.
Hide the steps
Click Hide next to the counter to remove the checklist from Home. There's no button to bring it back, but everything it links to is always in the sidebar. The checklist also disappears on its own once you've completed all three steps.
The calendar
After the getting-started steps there's a calendar with what you have on. It combines events from the workspace calendar and your personal calendar with cards that have a due date in the workspace's boards.
On the left is the day in large type (the number and the day of the week) and, below it, Coming up: up to seven events and cards from that day on. Each row starts with the time, All day or, for cards, Due; if it's on another day, the date. That label takes the color of the event or card, or of its first tag. Cards also show the board icon. Click an event to go to the calendar, or a card to open its board. Open calendar takes you to the Calendar.
On the right is the month, with ‹ and › to change month. Each day with something on is filled with the colors of its tags and of its events' and cards' own colors; if there are several, the circle is split into slices. Days with something on but no color are gray, and today has a ring around it. Below the month, a legend tells you which tag each color is.
Click a day in the month to see it on the left, with what's coming up from that day. On a phone, the day goes on top and the month below.
If there's nothing, you'll see "Nothing from this day on. Add a date to a card or create an event." See Calendar and Boards.
Choose what it shows
Click ⋯ (What to show), next to the month arrows, and tick or untick:
- Calendars: the workspace one (with its name) and Personal.
- Boards: All boards or only the ones you choose.
At first everything is shown. What you choose is saved to your account.
Pick up where you left off
Pick up where you left off lists the six pages in this workspace that were edited most recently, by you or anyone else, with how long ago each was edited. Click one to open it. Pages saved as templates and pages in the trash aren't shown.
Notebooks
Notebooks shows the six notebooks you opened most recently, with their covers. Click one to open it, or click See notebooks to go to the library. Notebooks are personal: only yours show up here, and not the ones in the trash. See Notebooks.
Studio
Studio shows your last four designs, each with a thumbnail of its first page. Click one to open it in the editor, or click Open Studio to make another. See Studio.
