Install Tylode as an app
You can install Tylode from your browser so it behaves like an app: it gets its own icon and its own window, without tabs or an address bar. It's the same Tylode you use in the browser, with the same account and data, and nothing extra to download.
What you get
- Its own window and icon. Tylode opens from the Start menu, Dock, taskbar or home screen, straight to Home, in a window without browser tabs.
- An unread badge on the icon. On computers where the browser supports it (Chrome and Edge on Windows and macOS), the app icon shows a number with everything waiting for you: pending workspace invitations, unread Mail conversations and unread notifications. The badge clears as you read them.
- Always up to date. Updates arrive automatically, just like in the browser.
Install on Windows or macOS with Chrome or Edge
- Open app.tylode.com and sign in.
- Install it:
- Chrome: click the install icon at the right end of the address bar (a screen with a down arrow). If you don't see it, open the ⋮ menu and look for the option to install the page as an app (under Cast, save, and share in recent versions).
- Edge: click the install icon in the address bar, or open the ⋯ menu → Apps → install this site as an app.
- Confirm with Install.
Tylode opens in its own window. On Windows you'll find it in the Start menu and can pin it to the taskbar; on macOS it appears in Launchpad and the Applications folder, and you can keep it in the Dock.
Install on macOS with Safari
On macOS Sonoma or later:
- Open app.tylode.com in Safari and sign in.
- In the menu bar, choose File → Add to Dock.
- Keep or change the name and click Add.
Tylode appears in the Dock and opens in its own window.
Install on Android
- Open app.tylode.com in Chrome and sign in.
- Tap the ⋮ menu.
- Tap Install app (or Add to Home screen) and confirm.
The Tylode icon appears on your home screen and in your app drawer.
Install on iPhone or iPad
- Open app.tylode.com in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen.
- Tap Add.
Open Tylode from the new icon on your home screen. The first time, you may need to sign in again inside the app.
Uninstall
Uninstall it like any other app: on Windows, from the app's window menu or Settings → Apps; on macOS, remove it from the Applications folder (Chrome and Edge) or from the Dock and Applications (Safari); on Android and iPhone/iPad, long-press the icon and remove it. Your account and your data aren't affected.
Good to know
- Offline, read only. Without a connection, the app opens the Offline · Read only screen with what's saved on the device, and what you write in an open page uploads when you're back online. Everything else needs the internet. See If you lose your connection.
- Notifications stay inside Tylode. The app installed from the browser doesn't send system notifications (the desktop app does); check Activity in the top bar (on a phone, in the Home header). See Notifications.
- There's also a desktop app for Windows and Mac. Besides its own window, it stays in the system tray or the menu bar, sends system notifications and updates itself. On a Mac it needs Apple silicon and macOS 13 or later. See Desktop app.
