Grade average
Grade average is a Tylode extension for students. You add your subjects with their credits and grades and it tells you your average, how far through your degree you are and what you still need: the average for a scholarship or Erasmus, and the grade you need in an exam to pass.
It's optional and personal: it only shows up if you install it, and only you see your grades.
Install Grade average
- Go to Settings → Extensions.
- Click Install on the Grade average card.
The first time, it asks about your degree: its name (optional), how many credits it has (240 for most bachelor's degrees in Spain) and whether grades go from 0 to 10 (pass 5) or from 0 to 20 (pass 10). You can change this anytime in Settings, inside the extension.
Add subjects
Type the name, credits and year, and click Add. Subjects are grouped by year, each with its own average.
- Type the grade in its box on the right (with a comma or a dot). Without a grade, the subject is in progress.
- Hons marks honours (matrícula de honor): it counts as a 10.
- In the ⋯: Open (for its components), Mark as recognised or Delete. A recognised subject always counts its credits, and its grade if it has one.
How the average is calculated
Like the official average in Spain (Royal Decree 1125/2003): each grade times its credits, all divided by the credits passed. Honours count as 10 and fails aren't included. If you have fails, you also see the average with fails, which some scholarships and master's programmes ask for.
Your university may round differently; treat it as a guide.
The average you want
In I want to finish with, type the average you need (for example, 7.5 for a scholarship). It tells you the average you need over your remaining degree credits, whether passing is enough, or whether it's no longer possible.
What you need in an exam
Open a subject and add its components: exam, labs, coursework… with each one's weight in the grade and, for those you have, their grade. You'll see:
- Your average so far on what's been graded.
- The grade you need in what's left to pass, or to reach the grade you type in To get a.
- Once everything is graded, Set … as the final grade moves it to the subject.
If the weights don't add up to 100%, they're scaled proportionally.
Uninstall Grade average
In Settings → Extensions, click Uninstall. It disappears from the sidebar, but your subjects and grades aren't deleted: if you install it again, they're still there.
