Notifications
Activity gathers what needs your attention: invitations to workspaces, unread internal mail, and notifications about you, such as mentions or cards assigned to you. It's where to look to see what happened while you were away.
Open Activity
- On a computer: click Activity, the bell in the top bar, next to Invite.
- On a phone: go to Home and tap the bell in the header.
The number next to Activity adds up your pending invitations, unread Mail threads and unread notifications. Click it to open the panel. It has up to three sections, and only shows the ones with something in them:
| Section | What's in it |
|---|---|
| Pending invitations | Invitations to join a workspace, with Accept and Decline. |
| For you | Notifications about you (see the table below). Unread ones have a dot. Click one to go to it. |
| Unread mail threads, by subject. Click one to open it. |
When there's nothing new, the panel says "No new notifications."
At the bottom of the panel, Open mail takes you to Mail, with every thread, not just the unread ones.
If accepting an invitation would take you over the number of workspaces your plan allows, Activity offers Freeze my workspace and join: your current workspace stays visible as read-only and you can go back to it whenever you want. See workspaces.
What notifies you
| Notification | When you get it | Where it takes you |
|---|---|---|
| "{name} mentioned you" | Someone @mentions you in a chat. | The conversation |
| "{name} replied to your message" | Someone uses Reply on one of your chat messages. | The conversation |
| "{name} assigned you a card" | Someone adds you as an assignee on a board card. | Boards |
| "{name} shared a page with you" | Someone gives you, or a team you're in, access to a page. | The page |
Each notification shows a short preview under the text: the message, the card title or the page title.
The For you list shows the notifications of the workspace you're in. Invitations and mail are personal, so they appear whichever workspace you're in.
Mark notifications as read
Click Mark as read at the top of For you to mark all your notifications in that workspace as read. The number next to Activity drops straight away.
Mail threads are marked as read when you open them.
Badge on the app icon
If you've installed Tylode as an app in Chrome or Edge, its icon shows the same number as Activity.
In a regular browser tab, the tab's icon gets a dot while you have something unread in Activity. That way you see it even when you're on another tab.
Notification settings
In Settings → Notifications you choose, for each type of notification (mentions, replies to your messages, cards assigned to you, pages shared with you, RRSS Planner, booked and cancelled meetings, and responses to your forms):
- In the app: whether it reaches Activity (and your iPhone). Turned off, that notification isn't created.
- By email: whether you also get it by email. You can only ask for it when it's on in the app.
Changes are saved right away.
Calendar reminders
Below, in Calendar reminders by email, choose whether you want an email before each timed event: 10 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour or 1 day before (or No, the default). You get the events in your personal calendar and, in the workspace ones, those you created, those you take part in and those with no participants. All-day events don't send reminders. The time in the email uses the time zone you had when you turned it on.
Weekly summary
With Weekly summary by email turned on, every Monday morning you get an email with your upcoming events for the week, the cards assigned to you that are due in those days, new pages that others have created in your workspaces (only the ones you can see) and how many unread notifications you have. If there's none of that, it doesn't arrive. It's off by default.
Email notifications
You only get notifications by email if you asked for them By email in Notification settings, and only the ones still unread after 10 minutes: if you're in the app and see them, nothing is sent. Several notifications come together in a single email, with a link to each thing.
Apart from that, you'll receive:
- Invitations to join a workspace.
- Account and security emails, such as confirming your address, resetting your password, or a warning when one of your two-step verification recovery codes is used (see security).
- If your account is new, three more: a welcome email, some tips after three days and a notice the day before your Pro trial ends. Each one has an Unsubscribe from these emails link; security emails will still arrive.
For developers
You can read your notifications and mark them as read through the API:
- GET
/api/v1/notifications?workspace_id=WORKSPACE_IDreturns your unread notifications (addinclude_read=trueto include read ones; up to 100, newest first). - POST
/api/v1/notificationswithworkspace_idin the body marks them all as read.
