AI assistant
Tylor is Tylode's AI assistant. You write to it in your own words and it answers: it searches your workspace, reads pages, looks at your boards and your calendar, and creates pages, cards and events. It can chain several steps for one request, such as finding a page, reading it and writing its summary into a new one.
Open the assistant
On a computer, the assistant is the small round button with a spark (✦) floating in the bottom-right corner of every screen of the app.
- Click the button, or press Ctrl+J (Cmd+J on Mac) from any screen, to open the Tylor panel.
- Type whatever you want and press Enter. To start a new line without sending, press Shift+Enter.
- Press Esc, press Ctrl+J again or click the button again to close it.
If the button is in the way, drag it anywhere on the screen. Tylode remembers where you left it in that browser.
On a phone, the floating button isn't shown. Tap + in the bottom tab bar and choose Assistant, or type in the Search or ask Tylor field on Home and choose Ask Tylor: “…”. See Navigating Tylode.
When the panel is empty it shows a few example questions: click one to send it.
Dictate to Tylor
If you don't feel like typing, dictate. In Tylor's message box, next to Send, there's a microphone (Dictate).
- Click the microphone and speak. What it understands appears in the box as you go.
- Click it again (Stop) to stop listening.
- Check the text, fix it if needed and click Send. Dictating never sends anything on its own.
What you dictate replaces whatever was typed in the box. If you leave the screen, it stops listening.
The microphone only shows where dictation works: in browsers that can recognize speech. If you don't see it, yours can't. The first time, your device asks for permission to use the microphone; if you don't give it, Tylode tells you to turn it on in your device settings.
Conversations
Tylor remembers the conversation: you can follow up with "and another one for tomorrow" or "make it shorter".
- New starts a conversation from scratch.
- Open full view takes the conversation to the Tylor section in the sidebar, where all of yours are.
- To delete one, click Delete next to it in the list. This can't be undone.
Each conversation belongs to a workspace: Tylor only searches, reads and creates in the workspace where you started it. Only you can see your conversations.
What Tylor can do
To answer about your workspace, Tylor uses these tools. While it works you see each step: "Searched for “budget”", "Read “Launch plan”", "Looked at your calendar"…
| Tool | What it does |
|---|---|
| Search | Searches the text of pages, notebooks and chat messages, and the names of boards, whiteboards, designs and Mail subjects |
| Read a page | Reads a page's title and text (on a panel page, also the text of its magnets) |
| Look at your pages | Goes through the list of pages in the workspace, with their titles |
| Look at your boards | Goes through the workspace's boards and their columns |
| Look at your calendar | Checks the workspace calendar's events between two dates |
| Create a page | Creates a page with a title and content: headings, lists, to-dos, quotes, code, bold, italics and links. It can go inside another page |
| Create a card | Creates a card with a title and description on the board and column you say. Without a column, it goes to the end of the first one |
| Create an event | Creates an event in the workspace calendar, timed or all-day, with a description. If you don't say when it ends, it lasts one hour |
Some examples:
| You type | What Tylor does |
|---|---|
What's on my calendar this week? | Checks your calendar and lists the events |
Summarize the page I have open | Reads the page and writes you the summary |
Find what we discussed about the budget | Searches the workspace and links what it finds |
Create a page with a plan to launch the website | Creates the page, with the plan already written |
Turn the to-dos on the Meeting page into cards on the Roadmap board | Reads the page, looks at the board and creates a card per to-do |
Tomorrow at 10 review the report | Creates the event, tomorrow from 10:00 to 11:00 |
When it creates or finds something, it links it so you can go straight there. It knows which page you have open, so "this page" works. It also understands dates like "tomorrow", "on Tuesday" or "in two hours", in your time zone.
It answers in the app's language or in the one you write in.
It asks before creating
If it has read workspace content to answer (it searched, read a page, or you have one open), before creating a page, a card or an event it shows you what it's about to create and waits for you to click Do it. Content written by other people could hide instructions, so nothing is created in your name without you seeing it. With No, nothing is created.
If it's about to create more than three things at once, it first tells you which ones and asks.
What Tylor can't do
- Change, move or delete anything. It only searches, reads and creates. It doesn't edit, rename, move or delete pages, cards, events or anything else. If you ask, it explains how to do it yourself.
- Read beyond pages. On boards it sees the name and the columns, not the cards. For whiteboards, designs and emails it only finds the name or the subject, and in chats, the messages that match the search. It doesn't open them in full.
- Read objects embedded in a page, such as boards or databases.
- Fill in every detail: events are created without participants or repetition, and cards without assignees or dates. You add those afterwards.
- Use your personal calendar. It reads and creates events in the workspace calendar.
- Leave the conversation's workspace. It doesn't see other workspaces, or anything you can't open.
Tylor is an AI and can make mistakes: check what matters.
AI credits
Every message you send to Tylor uses credits from your account's monthly allowance:
| Free | Pro | Premium | |
|---|---|---|---|
| AI credits per month | 15 | 350 | 1300 |
- What it uses depends on the work it does: a short question, 1 credit; one that reads several pages or writes a long one, more. Each step it takes with the AI uses at least 1.
- Under the conversation you see how many credits you have left this month.
- Credits belong to your account, not the workspace: your plan decides how many you have, and you use them in any workspace. See plans.
- If the AI service fails and can't answer, the credit for that step is refunded.
- Credits renew on the 1st of each month. Unused credits don't carry over.
- If you run out, Tylor tells you. If it happens halfway through a task, what was done up to that point stays saved. You can wait for next month or change plan.
Limits
| Limit | Value |
|---|---|
| Messages per person per day | 300 |
| Messages in a row | 20 per minute |
| Length of a message | 8,000 characters |
| Steps per message | 8; if it needs more, it stops and asks whether to continue |
| Text it reads from a page | Roughly the first 12,000 characters |
Privacy
The first time you use AI, Tylode asks for your permission (Before you use AI). Nothing is sent until you click Allow. You can withdraw permission at any time in Settings → Privacy.
- What you type and the current conversation are sent to the AI provider.
- If you dictate, your browser turns your voice into text: Tylode doesn't receive the audio, only the text you send.
- So is what Tylor reads from your workspace to answer you: the title of the page you have open and what it finds or reads with its tools (search results, the text of the pages it reads, your boards and your events).
- Tylor only sees what you can open.
- The provider is Anthropic. As the privacy policy explains, it processes that content only to generate the response and doesn't use it to train its models.
Who can use the assistant
Anyone can talk to Tylor, but what it does respects your permissions: read-only members can't create pages, events or cards with it, and in a frozen workspace it can't create anything. See roles and access.
