Modules
Timer
Timer is a Tylode extension with two modes: Focus, to work in concentrated rounds with breaks, and Tracking, to count the time you spend on each thing. Reports show how much, on what and, if you bill by the hour, what it's worth.
It's optional and personal: it only shows up if you install it, and what you track is visible only to you.
Install Timer
- Go to Settings → Extensions.
- Click Install on the Timer card.
From then on you have Timer in the sidebar, under Personal → Extensions (a drop-down with all the ones you have installed). While something is counting, the clock shows in the top bar on any screen: click it to go back to Timer.
Track time
In Tracking:
- Type what you're working on and, if you like, pick a project.
- Click Start. The clock keeps counting even if you change screens, reload or close the tab.
- Click Stop when you're done.
Below you'll find recent days, with each day's total. The ⋯ on each entry lets you Edit it (description, project, times and whether it's billable), Continue this (starts another one the same) or Delete it. Add manually records time you didn't clock.
If you leave the clock running, an entry is cut off at 24 hours: more than that isn't work.
Focus mode
In Focus you work in rounds: concentrated until it rings, then a break. Every few rounds, a long break.
- By default rounds are 25 minutes, breaks 5 and a long break of 15 every 4 rounds. Change them in Settings before you start.
- You can type what you'll focus on and pick a project.
- During a round: Pause, Skip (moves to the next phase) or Stop.
- When each phase ends you hear a sound and, if you're on another tab, you get a browser notification (it asks the first time).
Each round is saved as tracked time, so it also shows in reports. Breaks aren't.
Reports
In Reports you choose the period (This week, Last week, This month or Last month) and see:
- The Total, what's Billable and the Amount: billable hours times their project's rate.
- Time By day and By project.
Export CSV downloads every entry in the period (date, hours, project, client, description and whether it's billable), ready for a spreadsheet or your accountant.
Projects
Projects group your time. Each project has a color and, optionally, a client and an hourly rate in euros: with it, reports work out what your time is worth. Projects you no longer use can be Archived; if you delete one, its time stays, without a project.
Uninstall Timer
In Settings → Extensions, click Uninstall. It disappears from the sidebar, but your time and projects aren't deleted: if you install it again, they're still there.
