Pages and editor
Real-time collaboration and comments
Several people can write on the same page at the same time and see each other's changes as they happen. When you want to discuss something instead of changing it, leave a comment on the exact block you're talking about.
Edit together in real time
Just open the same page. There's nothing to turn on and no "share for editing" step: anyone in the workspace who can see the page and is allowed to edit content can type in it.
- Changes from others appear in your editor as they type.
- Each person's cursor is shown in a color, with a label containing their name, so you can see who's writing where.
- Next to Share, the initial of each person who has the page open, in their cursor color. Hover over them to see the names.
- Everything saves automatically for everyone (see Writing in the editor).
Undo (Ctrl+Z, or Cmd+Z on Mac) only reverts your own changes. To go back to an earlier state of the whole page, use Version history.
Comments on blocks
Comments in Tylode are attached to a block (a paragraph, heading, list item, image, table…), not to a text selection. That keeps each conversation next to the content it's about.
Add a comment
- Click inside the block you want to comment on, so the cursor is in it.
- Click the comment icon (Comments) at the top right of the page. The comments panel opens on the right. Click the icon again to close it.
- Type in Comment on the block where the cursor is… and press Enter or click Comment. Use Shift+Enter for a new line.
If the cursor isn't in any block, the panel asks you to place it in one first.
Reply to a comment
Each open comment has a Reply… box under it. Type and press Enter. Replies appear in order under the original comment.
Resolve and reopen
When the discussion is done, click Resolve on the comment. It disappears from the list (and its marker from the page), but it isn't deleted.
To see resolved comments, click Show resolved at the top of the panel (it changes to Showing resolved). A resolved comment has a Reopen button to bring it back. Resolved comments can't receive replies until they're reopened.
Find the commented block
Click Go to block on a comment to scroll the page to that block and highlight it for a moment. If the block has since been deleted, you'll see The commented block no longer exists on this page.
Delete a comment
You can delete your own comments with the trash icon (Delete comment). You can't delete other people's comments; resolve them instead.
Markers and counts
Blocks with open comments show a marker in the margin, so you can spot discussions while reading. The Comments icon at the top of the page shows a counter with how many blocks have open comments; hover over it to see, for example, Comments (3).
The panel updates live: new comments and replies from others appear without reloading.
Mentions
Comments on pages don't support @mentions and don't send notifications. To get someone's attention, mention them in a chat (type @ in a message) and point them to the page.
Who can comment
Anyone in the workspace who can see the page can read, add, reply to and resolve comments, including members with the Read-only role. A page restricted with Share can only be opened, and so commented on, by the people it's shared with plus owners and admins. In a frozen workspace, comments can be read but not added.
See Members and roles and Sharing and page permissions.
