Workspace and account
Your account
Your Tylode account is personal: it holds your name, your preferences, your plan and the things that go with you across workspaces, like My drive and Studio. This page covers creating it, signing in and setting it up the way you like.
Most of these settings are in Settings (click your name in the top bar, then Settings).
Create an account
- Go to app.tylode.com/signup.
- Fill in Name, Email and Password (at least 8 characters).
- Tick "I have read and accept the Terms and the Privacy Policy."
- Click Create account.
You'll see "Account created. Check your email to confirm it before signing in." Open the email and click the confirmation link. Tylode creates your personal workspace automatically, named "{your name}'s Workspace". See Workspaces.
If someone invited you, sign up with the same address the invitation was sent to, so the invitation is waiting for you when you get in.
Resend the confirmation email
If the email doesn't arrive, check your spam folder. To get it again, click Resend the confirmation email. The button appears right after you create the account, and also on the sign-in screen if you try to sign in before confirming.
Continue with Google
On the sign-up and sign-in screens you can click Continue with Google instead of choosing a password. By continuing with Google you accept the Terms and the Privacy Policy.
- Go to app.tylode.com/login.
- Enter your Email and Password.
- Click Sign in.
If you've turned on two-step verification, Tylode then asks for the six-digit code from your authenticator app. See Security.
After several failed attempts in a row, Tylode asks you to wait a minute before trying again.
Recover your password
- On the sign-in screen, click Forgot it? next to the password.
- On Reset your password, enter your email and click Send link.
- Open the email and click the link. You'll see "If there's an account with that email, we've sent you a link." whether or not the address has an account, so nobody can use this screen to find out who's registered. Check your spam folder too.
- On Set a new password, fill in New password and Repeat the password (at least 8 characters).
- Click Save password. You're signed in and taken to the app.
If the link has expired or was already used, click Request another link and start again.
Your profile
Go to Settings → Account, or click your name in the top bar and choose Edit profile.
- Photo: click Upload photo (or Change photo) and pick an image. It's cropped to a square and saved small. Remove goes back to your initial. It's what others see next to your name.
- Name: edit it and click Save. It's how other members see you in the workspace, in chats and in mentions.
- Email: shown read-only. To change the email address of your account, write to support@tylode.com from your current address.
Your badges
Badges recognize things you've done in Tylode. You don't ask for them: they appear on their own. You'll find them in Settings → Account, under Your badges. If you don't have any yet, that section says so.
| Badge | When you have it |
|---|---|
| Founder | You subscribed to Pro with the founder offer. It carries your number, in the order you became a founder: for example, "No. 14 of 200". It stays even if you cancel later. |
| Student | You've verified your school email with the student discount. If the verification expires, it switches off until you renew it. |
| Creator | You have at least one template published on the Marketplace. If you withdraw them all, it switches off. |
| Featured author | Your templates have already earned you a month of Pro. See Marketplace rewards. |
Who sees them:
- Your workspace teammates: next to your name, in the members list. Hover over one to see which it is.
- On the Marketplace: your author badges, Founder and Featured author, show next to your name on your templates. Student never shows there.
When you earn a new one, a short notice appears when you open Tylode, for example "New badge: Creator". It tells you once on each device.
Language
Go to Settings → General → Language and pick one. The interface changes straight away. The language is saved to your account, so it follows you to any device.
Tylode is available in 13 languages:
| Español | English | Français |
| Deutsch | Italiano | Português (Brasil) |
| Português (Portugal) | 简体中文 | 日本語 |
| 한국어 | Русский | العربية |
| हिन्दी |
Each language appears in its own name, so you can find yours even if you don't understand the current one. Arabic is shown right to left. Before you sign in, Tylode uses your browser's language.
Theme
Go to Settings → General → Appearance and choose Light, Dark or System (follows your device's setting). Your choice is also saved to your account.
Accent color
In Settings → General → Appearance, below the theme, there's Your accent: choose Gold, Coral, Pistachio, Sky, Lavender or Peony. It's the color of selections, links, tabs and icons, and it tints borders very slightly. Main buttons stay the same. Your accent is yours alone: it doesn't change what others see, and it's saved to your account.
Time zone
There's nothing to set up: Tylode detects your time zone from your device and shows dates and times in your local time, for example in the Calendar and in the Home calendar.
Notifications
Tylode notifies you in Activity, the bell in the top bar, when someone mentions you, replies to your message, assigns you a card or shares a page with you. Pending invitations also show up there. See Notifications.
There's nothing to configure about them yet. Tylode doesn't send notifications by email: it emails you about invitations, your account's security (confirming your email, resetting your password, or a recovery code being used) and, if your account is new, with three welcome and end-of-trial emails you can unsubscribe from. See Notifications.
Privacy
Settings → Privacy and security → Privacy decides how your friends see you. Nobody but you can see what you choose here.
| Option | What your friends see |
|---|---|
| Let the app decide | Online while you're using Tylode, away if you step away for a while, and offline when you close it. This is the usual setting. |
| Always away | Away, even while you're working. Handy so nobody expects an immediate reply. |
| Always invisible | Offline, exactly as if you had closed the app. |
Sign out
Click your name in the top bar and choose Sign out. This signs you out on this device only. To sign out on every device at once, use Sign out everywhere in Security.
Delete your account
Go to Settings → Account and, at the very bottom, click Delete account…. A window explains what you'll lose; type DELETE and click Delete my account. It doesn't go to the trash and can't be undone.
What gets deleted:
- Your profile, your photo and your access to Tylode.
- My drive, Studio, Notebooks and your personal calendar.
- Workspaces where you're the only member, with everything in them.
- Your friends, your invitations and your preferences.
What stays: what you did in shared workspaces (pages, messages, cards) stays in the workspace, without your name. Invoices are kept because the law requires it.
If you pay for Pro or Premium, the subscription is cancelled right away, with no refund for the time left.
If you're the only owner of a workspace with other members, you can't delete your account yet: the workspace would be left with nobody to manage it. The section tells you which workspaces they are. Make someone else an owner in Settings → Workspace → Members and permissions, or delete the workspace, and try again.
When it's done you're taken back to the sign-in screen. You can sign up again with the same email, but you'll start from scratch.
Get a copy of your data
Exporting all your data at once isn't available in the app. Write to privacy@tylode.com from the email address of your account and we'll take care of it. If you're going to delete your account, do it first.
Meanwhile, you can export things one by one:
- Pages: Markdown (.md) or PDF. See Export pages.
- Studio documents: PDF, PNG or PowerPoint (PowerPoint needs Pro). See Studio.
- Whiteboards: PNG image or PDF. See Whiteboards.
- Files in My drive: Download. See My drive.
- Pages and tables in bulk, for developers: through the API.
