Notes
Notes is a study-notes marketplace inside Tylode. You find PDFs and notebooks other students have published, save them to your Tylode as a notebook and write on them. On a paid plan, you can publish your own too.
It's a Tylode extension: optional, made by Tylode, and it doesn't show up until you install it. All notes are free.
Install Notes
- Go to Settings → Extensions (your own extensions, not the workspace's).
- Click Install on the Notes card.
It installs straight away and takes you there. From then on you have Notes in the sidebar, under Personal → Extensions (a drop-down with all the ones you have installed). It's installed for you, not for the workspace: each person decides whether they want it.
Find notes
Explore shows the latest published notes. You can:
- Search by title, subject, degree, university or year.
- Show only PDF or only Notebooks (notebooks with whatever their author wrote on them).
- Sort by Newest, Most saved or Top rated.
Click some notes to see them: their first pages, which subject, degree and university they're for, who published them, how many pages they have and their ratings.
Save notes
On any notes, click Save to my Tylode. A new notebook is created in your library and opens:
- A PDF arrives as a notebook with the PDF underneath, ready to write on, just as if you'd opened it yourself from Notebooks.
- A notebook arrives as a full copy, with the author's handwriting, typed text and images. You can keep writing, erase or change anything: it's yours.
What you save is a fixed copy. If the author keeps changing their notebook or removes the notes, your copy doesn't change. Saved lists everything you've saved, and each note has Open my notebook.
How many you can save each month
| Plan | Notes per month |
|---|---|
| Free | 3 |
| Pro | 20 |
| Premium | Unlimited |
At the top of Notes you can see how many you have left this month. Saving notes you already had again doesn't count, and the count resets on the 1st of each month.
Saved notes are just another notebook, so they count towards your plan limits: number of notebooks, pages per PDF and storage. If they don't fit, Notes tells you why before saving and nothing is taken from your monthly allowance.
Publish your notes
Publishing is for accounts on a paid plan. Click Publish notes:
- The first time, confirm you're 14 or older and accept the Notes rules.
- Choose what to publish: A PDF (up to 30 MB) or One of your notebooks, with its PDF, handwriting, typed text and images (up to 30 MB in total).
- Add the title and subject and, if you like, the degree, university, year and a description. They help people find it.
- Click Publish.
A copy is published: your notebook stays yours and you can keep changing it without changing the notes. Links to your pages or boards inside the notebook aren't published, because they lead nowhere for anyone else.
My notes lists what you've published. To take some down, open them and click Remove from Notes: they stop showing and their copy is deleted. Anyone who already saved them keeps theirs.
Rate and report
- Rate: once you've saved some notes, you can give them 1 to 5 stars from their page.
- Report: if notes infringe copyright, are offensive or are advertising, click Report and choose the reason. We review it, and if three people report them they're hidden until then. If you hold the rights to some content, you can also write to us at support@tylode.com.
Notes rules
- Only publish notes you made yourself or have permission to share.
- Don't upload syllabuses, exams or lecturers' materials without their permission, or scanned books or articles.
- Don't include other people's personal data (full names, ID numbers, grades, phone numbers).
- Nothing offensive, sexual, violent or promotional.
- Others can save what you publish to their Tylode for free and write on it. If you remove it, anyone who already saved it keeps it.
- If notes are reported, we may hide or remove them. Repeatedly breaking the rules can mean losing the option to publish.
Uninstall Notes
In Settings → Extensions, click Uninstall on the Notes card. It disappears from the sidebar, but nothing is deleted: what you've published stays published and the notebooks you saved stay in your library. If you install it again, everything is where you left it.
